Learn why we made changes
Due to Reserve Bank of India regulations, Google will need to set up an e-mandate for your card for recurring automatic payments. Automatic payments in India will be limited to ₹5,000 per transaction.
This affects all users, but there are some differences depending on whether you're a new customer or an existing user.
When you set up a new subscription
For new subscriptions, all automatic payments that use credit and debit cards are subject to the Reserve Bank of India e-mandate notification.
This requires Google to set up an e-mandate for your card and limit automatic payments to ₹5,000 per transaction. This may affect your payments on Google Domains.
How to fix current recurring payments
Your current recurring payments may fail due to the Reserve Bank of India regulations. This includes both domain registration and Google Workspace renewals.
To fix your subscription if you enabled automatic payments and your card is ready for an e-mandate, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Google Domains account and navigate to the "My domains" tab.
- In the Red alert box at the top of the page, click Update now.
As an alternative, you can also generate an e-mandate for your Google Domains subscriptions by following these steps:
- Sign into Google Payments and click on the bell icon on the top right to view your alerts.
- Click Fix now in the alert corresponding to your Google Domains account to fix your recurring payments.
You may be unable to generate a new e-mandate if your bank does not support this regulation yet. To keep your subscriptions active, continue to make manual payments as soon as the payment is due.
Make a manual payment
At any time, if your account has stopped running due to the unavailability of an automatic payment option to make recurring subscription payments, follow the steps below:
